New Hope Newsletter - May 25, 2022

Dear Families,

I think we all feel the weight of the tragic events in Texas yesterday, especially as we dropped our own children off at school today. This tragedy is unimaginable to me as a parent and school leader. It is hard to understand how God can allow things like this to happen, yet we know that in our suffering and confusion, God draws even nearer and makes His presence known. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” We are praying for the tangible peace and comfort of God to be made known to the families devastated by these events.

In light of this, we want to let you know that, as a school, we take the safety and security of your children extremely seriously. We keep the front of the school locked during the day and the rest of the campus is patrolled by our security guard and monitored by security cameras so that we always know who is on campus and has access to your children. Teachers are reviewing lock-in and lock-down procedures so that they know how to respond in the event of an emergency. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding our safety procedures or emergency response plans.

As we head into the last weeks of school, there are a few reminders and events to be aware of:

Re-enrollment: Re-enrollment for the 2022-23 school year is still open and space is filling up quickly. Please don’t wait to re-enroll online if you haven’t yet! You can log in to your Family Portal account, choose Apply/Enroll on the left and complete your student’s enrollment packets.

Yearbooks: The window to order a school yearbook to be delivered to the school is closed, but the school did order some extra yearbooks that can be purchased in the office when they arrive. There are limited quantities. If those sell out you may still order a yearbook through the link below, however you will need to pay shipping and it will not arrive before the end of the school year.

Dress-Code Reminders: With warmer weather here (finally!), I'd like to remind you of our school dress code and ask for your support in helping students dress accordingly. These policies apply for students in grades 5-12 for school and all school related events, including end of year awards ceremonies.
The length of dresses, skirts, and shorts is to be no shorter than mid-thigh. (Mid-thigh is halfway between the top of the leg and the top of the knee.)
Girls’ tank tops may be worn as long as they are at least 1 inch at top of shoulder.
Boys’ tank tops are not to expose sides or chest areas.
Undergarments, midriff, or cleavage should not be exposed or visible at any time.
For jeans and pants with holes, the top of the hole may not be above mid-thigh unless bike shorts/leggings are worn underneath.
Students not following dress-code will be asked to change into PE clothing or call home for a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation in this!

Parent Surveys - Look for an email tomorrow with a link to an end of the year survey. This survey gives us valuable feedback on what we are doing well and how we can improve.
