Mr. Feist was born and raised in San Diego. He has a triplet sister and brother. He enjoys gardening, acting in Christian drama, and singing. He has been a team leader for short-term mission trips to Honduras and Peru and has a passion for the Spanish language.
Richard attended San Diego State University where he majored in Speech Communications, earning his Bachelor’s degree and then his Master’s degree in Drama. In 1985, Mr. Feist moved to the Los Angeles area to begin his corporate career as an Assistant Training Specialist for The Vons Companies Inc., and then as the Video Communications Manager. Then in 1990, he began his teaching career on the community college level as an instructor of communication classes.
Mr. Feist moved to Grants Pass in 2002 and entered into a completely new field – the RV industry. He became a Director of Communications and the Director of the Motorhome Steering and Suspension Institute (MSSI). He also started teaching at Rogue Community College in Grants Pass. To this day, he continues to teach writing and speech classes for RCC, both in the classroom and online, and also teaches online for Umpqua Community College.
Mr. Feist is delighted to teach at NHCS with the freedom to pray and connect class subjects with the principles of Jesus Christ. He teaches literature, writing, and speech classes. He is also delighted to teach dual credit (high school/college) courses at New Hope as part of the “College Now” program through Rogue Community College. Mr. Feist enjoys getting to know his students and identifying how he can better prepare them for the future.
