C-Y of Josephine County
Dear New Hope Families,
Thank you for your interest in Concerned Youth of Josephine County.
This program is designed to serve the youth of our community by helping to instill in them values and character traits that will last a lifetime.
The premise is simple. The student commits to a Saturday morning shift once every eight weeks. That’s only six Saturday mornings per year. These shifts will be spent doing clean-up type jobs such as trash pick-up, weed pulling, etc. in downtown Grants Pass. (Older students will have the opportunity to lead the younger students, although all work crews will be supervised by adults.)
This alone would be a very worthwhile task. Just think of the effect on the community a team like this could have; think of the hometown pride this could foster. We believe the effects could be so far reaching that they are hard to imagine. But this is just the beginning.
Our goal is to help our community by building up our youth. The students who participate in this program will be eligible for workshops and classes throughout the year such as Leadership Skills, Managing Your Personal Finances, Communication Skills, Scholarship Research, Making Smart Career Choices, Job Interviewing, and more. We also plan to offer vocational workshops such as beginning photography, cooking classes, basic garden maintenance and others.
Please keep in mind that we must have an Emergency Contact Form filled out and on file prior to each youth going out. These can be obtained from Mrs. Harvey or Mr. Brumbach. We will be launching the program with the first Saturday crews going out on April 8th, so get your forms in soon! If you have questions or would like further information please feel free to contact us at any time.
Thank you for considering participating in Concerned Youth of Josephine County. This is an exciting opportunity for New Hope to lead in helping create a program that is capable of blessing the youth of this county for years to come.
