Welcome to the 2007-8 School Year

Parents, we are blessed to be working with you in the instruction of your students J!

Thrilled with Our 2007-8 Staff

I am thrilled with our staff as we look forward to a great year.  I want to share with you the fact that before school starts, teachers come for 4-5 days of paid and expected preparation work.  This summer, I noticed that almost all of your teachers were here MANY days more than the expected, many of them 2-3 times the required time.  How often in the work world, do you have workers putting in immense amounts of time voluntarily?  Pray that these extra efforts can be used by the Lord to bless many of our students.

Moms In Touch

This vital mothers’ prayer time is scheduled for each Wednesday, 8:00 – 9:00 a.m., meeting in room 6.

Emergency Data Forms

It is time again to make certain that you have turned your forms into the office.

Recent Newspaper Insert

Knowing that many of you may not have received our 20 page newspaper insert in either the Daily Courier or the Country Weekly, we are sending them out to those on our bulk mail list.  If you receive an extra one, will you please pass it on to someone else?                          Thanks.

Also, please pick up additional copies if you can help by placing those at your place of business, church, etc.

Please join us this Saturday, anytime from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. for:

  1. Gym floor scraping and clean-up
  2. Someone with drywall experience and equipment for the gym dressing rooms
  3. Prep work for painting in gym – all gym painting must to be done before the floor can be laid!
  4. Painting in gym (and breezeway if extra people show up)

Contact Terell (660-6320) if you have a paint spray rig that you can bring and use

We can also use help any time this next Monday and/or Tuesday, 6:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Come, even if you can only help one or two hours.  We have LOTS to do if we are to be ready for the floor installers!

The floor installer wants to start on Wednesday IF we have completed our floor work and painting by that time.

  1. Vacuuming of rooms will also be appreciated since we are focusing custodial time on the gym

NEWS FROM THE BUS STOP

Hello and welcome to the bus stop!  My name is Melanie and I will be your Route Bus Driver for the 2007-2008 School year.  I am excited and very pleased with your kids this year!  They are off to a great start!  Thank you to everyone who has already turned in their school bus contracts/emergency phone numbers.  If you haven’t already seen these and turned them in, please check in with the office and ask them for a schedule and contract.
We are in the process of getting all of these stops and times adjusted.  You may have noticed a bit of a time difference in the afternoon.  I will probably be adding about 5 minutes to each stop after the old redwood market.  Traffic and construction delays are constantly changing.  We will have our permanent schedule for you by September 14th, or next Friday.   We appreciate your patience while we fine tune the scheduled stops and times.

Just to avoid confusion….if your child is getting off somewhere different than usual, please make sure to send a detailed list of location and a signed by parent note of approval.  Sometimes the kids really have no idea what they are supposed to do and they get very worried and confused.  These stops must be on our already normal route and approved by the office at least one day in advance.  If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to call me.  The bus cell number is 441-1633.    Make sure to make a note of the new number.

Thanks everybody and see ya at the bus stop!

Love Melanie

New Hope’s First On-line and On-site Auction

Several years ago Jim Savard spearheaded a couple successful on-site auctions for New Hope Christian Schools.  Some have asked if we could do this again as it not only greatly assists our programs financially, but also is a TREMENDOUS way to bring awareness of our school and what we have to offer our young people to the community.  So, here we are, ready to go with our biggest and best yet.

Dates

  1. On-line bidding for some items will begin October 8th and close at various dates.
  2. Live site auction at our Harvest Festival, October 27th
  3. On-line bidding for some items will continue until midnight, November 13th

Diana Hale is our auction chairperson

  1. Contact Diana at school 476-4588 or DianaH@newhopechristian.net
  2. We are seeking to develop a 10 or 12 member auction committee.
  3. Our first committee meeting was last night.  IF you can assist by being on the steering committee or one of the sub committees below, be at the next auction meeting, September __, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the computer lab, or at least contact Diana.

How Can You Help?

  1. Sign up for a sub-committee:
    1. Sponsor Development
    2. Auction Management
    3. Promotion and Marketing
    4. Payment Processing
    5. Website Data Entries
  2. Provide sponsorship or names of possible interested people or organizations
  3. Bring in 5 donations from 5 people or organizations and earn 1 Harvest Festival chicken meal ticket for every 5 donation sources

So far we have a letterman’s jacket from Bashor’s Athletics, a lovely hand made quilt and several wall hangings from members of the New Hope Bible Church, matching crocheted pillow and blanket, plus another crocheted blanket from the Stones.

What can you donate?  Let your imaginations run.  Have you a cottage, time-share, or other to donate a week?  Have you a boat, or operational vehicle you no longer use?  Do you have a service to donate?

Harvest Festival Committee

  1. Many people are needed for this, New Hope’s biggest annual event!
  2. First Planning Session is Wednesday, September 12th, 8:00-8:45 a.m. in the computer lab
  3. Valerie Matthews is the Harvest Festival chair person.
  4. This committee will coordinate with the auction committee, but hopefully, not overlap duties.

67% of Our Gym Renovation Goal of $110,000 is Now Met

Yesterday, Don Deardorf of 4-Ply called to say that they would donate all the double layer sheets of plywood needed.  A good boost, now at $73,720 toward the $110,000 goal, giving $36,280 more to raise.

Foot squares of the old carpet are now available for those who donate $40 or more toward the eagerly awaited renovation.

Yesterday, the gym fundraising committee agreed to present the challenge that each student work, during the October 3rd half day, 4th & 5th full days off, to raise much or all of the additional monies needed for this greatly awaited improvement project.  These are the days on the calendar marked for our staff in-service in Portland.  The committee’s plans are to have an informative flyer out by this coming Thursday.

This Year Our Construction Advances and Staff Salary Advances Demand Extra Diligence

1.     Praying and trusting the Lord for His direction and provisions.

  1. Being more innovative in gaining support from others in the community, etc.

Star Party Tonight, 8:30 p.m., & A Praise   Last night I slept on the front lawn in case mischief came to the school; AND PRAISE, after two nights of mischief, our missing large New Hope sign was found and returned undamaged.  The moonless night was BEAUTIFUL!  Come join one of our remaining star parties before the winter clouds set in.
