See Picture of Our New Gym Floor on the School Website The floor installers set this coming Monday for sports activities to begin in the gym! Still much work to be done on other portions of renovation as funds and time enable. Gym Use Cautions Being Exercised We will exercise extra caution since some in our school family have expressed concern about presence of floor finish fumes needing to dissipate more. Therefore on the part of caution, we for a time are making the following adjustments of gym use:
Our gym circulating fans have been on continually since it was coated this last weekend, to further speed up curing of the finish. It is great to have this improved facility, and we are thankful for each of us working together to make this a GREAT experience for the New Hope family!
Athletic Shoes Will Be Required for Gym Play
The Back Entries Into the Gym Will Only Be Used for Emergencies This will be in effect until a protective back entry can be built.
No Food or Drinks in the Gym
New Hope Middle School Boys are District Cross Country Champions Again! Thanks to the hard work of the boys, and the great coaching of Ken Bern and Dave Johnson, these boys not only took first in their district meet, but they also took first in two other large meets with large schools! The Publications class will do a great job of picturing this talented group with a more detailed write-up in their next publication.

Academic Challenge to Be on TV Last night our students participated in their first Academic Challenge. For several years, NH students have been greatly successful with the spring Brain Bowls of a different format. Now we are joining the Academic Challenge circuit. Following are some notes e-mailed from Lisa Ward, our English teacher: Our Academic Challenge team will be shown playing Brookings-Harbor HS on Sunday night at 9 p.m. on KOBI, channel 5. Team members are:
They played Brookings-Harbor who was 2nd last year. We lost, but we learned a lot. We made a few mistakes because of the different rules from Brain Bowl. It came down to who was faster on the buzzer. We will do better next time. They put the largest schools against the smallest schools in the first round. It is double elimination so we get at least one more time.
YOU Can Make Our Biggest Event of the Year, Harvest Festival, a Better Success!
So far, one staff member has purchased 20 tickets, plus the 4 free tickets to give away. We have families in school who were influenced by friends inviting them to the HF.
Do you have skills, services, or new items you can donate to be auctioned?. Contact Diana Hale
The past two years, parking was extremely crowded. Contact the school if you can give any time for parking assistance. |
