Two New Hope Athletes in the Top Ten at the State Championships  Junior Jacob Bowdoin and sophomore Eli Cunningham reached the awards podium at last  Saturday’s Class 3A/2A/1A State cross country championships.  Jacob placed 6th, reaching the finish line in 16:40 minutes.  Eli finished 9th in 16:52 minutes.  125 of the state’s top athletes  competed in the 5000 kilometer race.

Spectators at Sports Events

  1. Courtesy and thoughtfulness are always essential
  2. Students, including elementary school children, must be in the gym supporting our teams.  No loitering or playing around on the school grounds or in restrooms.
  3. The court is reserved for team players except when spectators take part in a half-time Pepsi shoot-out (OSAA rules also require that the court be reserved  for players or other organized activities).
  4. Children should not go into the locker rooms.
  5. Cars should be parked in the lower parking lot or on the hillside south of the school.

Gym Renovation Dedication   At an all-school assembly last week, special appreciation was expressed to the students who put in time and effort to earn money for the gym renovation project.  The elementary school children earned the most and were especially praised for their efforts.

Another Means By Aunt Mabel to Assist NHCS  Aunt Mabel has authored A Missionary in the Making, a book that contains many of her missionary stories already shared with your children.  She has designated that all royalties be given to the school. Copies of the book, listed online with Amazon and other companies at $13.99/paperback, will be available in our main office for $10, earning the school $4 per book.  Checks need to be made out to Mabel Tyrrell.  This does not cover her initial publishing cost, but it is another of her many ways of helping the school provide Christian education to your children.

The following comments, found on the back cover, were made by Glynna Stone: “Are you ready to discover how daily a missionary life is?  Mabel has succeeded in helping young people and adults understand the daily workings of God in the life of a missionary.  Transparent, truthful, funny and touching are some of the words that help describe this book.  Mabel is a faithful missionary at our school and lives her life close to our Lord.  Her greatest desire is to use this work to stir others to greater service.  It is an inspiration!”

Thanksgiving Baskets   This annual food drive by the Student Government is again being conducted.  Boxes are now placed in each classroom for the collection of canned goods, stuffing mix, or anything else that would be good for a Thanksgiving dinner.  This is a great opportunity to assist some in need.
