A Great Choir Trip to the ACSI Junior High Musicale held at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, was made by 38 students, accompanied by 10 adult chaperones. The choir was composed of the entire 6th grade class, 18 from junior high, and two from high school. They performed excellently, with the choir receiving a “Superior” rating from the adjudicator. They were only one point from a perfect score, due to the choir having only one baritone (not a fixable problem). Ken Townsend, who runs the event for ACSI, told Director Kim Kostrna that he had heard great things about the NHCS choir. The school band also had a great presentation, receiving an excellent rating. In praise of our students, Mrs. Kostrna emailed the entire NHCS staff: “We have such an excellent group of kids here.”
Speech Meet A Great Success Monday night was the final for the NHCS Speech Meet held in the gym. Forty four students from grades 1-6 gave their selections in front of their families and friends! All of the students gave amazing presentations! Great job, finalists! We are so proud of you! Thank you, Genie Haro, for the many hours you spent organizing the Speech Meet.
Middle School District Track Championships at St. Mary’s this Friday. NHCS middle-school track team has done well and is looking for wins at this Friday’s championships meet in Medford. With Tuesday’s track meet win, the track team has placed first at every meet, with the exception of the girls’ team placing 2nd at the very first meet. A spectator turnout would greatly encourage our athletes. We hope to see many of you parents at St. Mary’s, located at 816 Black Oak Drive, (turn right off Barnett Road) in Medford.
The field events start at 2:30 pm. The track events start at 4:00 pm.
High School District Track Championships take place on Saturday at Rogue River High School. NHCS is running the meet and a few volunteer helpers are still needed. A great parent/friend turnout of spectators will do great things for our athletes.
Field events and 3,000 meter – 9:50 am to 12:30 pm Track events – 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
