April 3, 2008 Note from Lisa Ward to Parents of Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors You will find a College Planning Calendar in your envelope today. Its never too early to begin planning for college. Use this summer to make plans for college visits. If you are on vacation, take a day to visit a nearby college. It can really inspire your student in this arena. This school year, we had ten colleges and universities visit New Hope and speak to our students. Many of your students attended and received some great info to begin their college plans. Take some time to have your student visit college websites and begin to look into majors and careers. It will be very valuable to get a head start. Waiting until their senior year can be frustrating for students and parents.
Parent/Teacher Conferences Friday, April 11th. See confirmation of your scheduled time slot enclosed. If you have not yet scheduled, you may do so by calling the office. Spring Pictures Please send payment and/or pictures you are not purchasing to the school office as soon as possible. Potluck Dinner for 7th and 8th Grade Students and Parents Monday, April 14th, 6:30 p.m. Invitations were recently mailed. Please be sure to R.S.V.P. by April 10th. Laurie Tafts Memorial Service is this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Many of your children had Laurie Taft as their fifth grade teacher. The memorial service for her will be this coming Saturday, 3:00 pm, at New Hope Bible Church. You are welcome to attend. Re-Enrollments Helpful Planning for the coming year is always helped by those who re-enroll early.
International Student Host Families We have not hosted international students for the summer in the past, but a request for such has been received by NH. Please contact us if you are interested in hosting international students for either the summer or for next school year. A $450/month housing stipend is given for each month hosting.
Traffic Safety Remember to observe 20 MPH school zone speed limits and to drop off students in the parking lot off of Hidden Valley Rd.
Double-Wide Mobile Home Still Needed
Stanford Achievement Testing Next week, we will be conducting the testing. Most of the elementary grades will be testing Monday-Thursday; junior high tests on Tuesday-Thursday; high school tests on Tuesday and Thursday. Since makeups are not possible, please make every effort to have your student at school for the testing times. Students should be well-rested, eat a healthy breakfast, have #2 pencils with erasers, bring a healthy snack and a water bottle. |
