“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse of heaven shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.” Psalm 19:1-3 NKJV
My appreciation of the heavens is growing, now that New Hope Christian Schools has possibly the best telescope and observatory for public viewing in Oregon. My brief times in the observatory have been catching my attention to the tremendously expansive heavens. Pray with us as we seek to develop this addition to our science program. We are totally understaffed at the present time to meet potential demands as this telescope becomes known in Oregon. At our open house meeting we showed some photos taken from our observatory. Enclosed is a two page flyer made available at that meeting. You may view some of our telescope’s photos on the school website.
Volunteering to Make a Better School – Parent(s) needed to volunteer for before school playground supervision, 7:45-8:00 a.m.. We need supervision help at this time when our staff is stretched with other responsibilities. - One or two days/week lunch help needed. Will several parents who have volunteered for helping in the elementary classes or office be able to also help one/two days a week help with food service? Picture day – Parent helper needed to assist in getting students ready for photographers. They give a bonus.
Saturday, September 23rd, Work Morning Mark your calendar to come assist us with many campus fall needs:
Turn in Student Emergency Forms
School Directory – The Parent Directory will be distributed soon. If you do not want your family information included in it, e-mail sharong@nhcs.us immediately, or phone the office. Sorry, we lost record of one parent who had requested information to be left out, so we are starting over again.
Moms-in-Touch meets Thursdays, at 8:00 a.m., beginning Septemeber 21st, in room 6. An important weekly prayer group praying specifically for our students and staff.
Preparing for College - As the college counselor, Lisa Ward will be presenting materials in the classroom, and also passing along information via the weekly envelopes. Some things to look for are information about financial aid, academic preparation for college, and college previews. In her room (room 7) are college catalogs and information about the military. Please call Lisa if you have questions. She will do her best to answer those or to find the needed information.
Lisa’s note to parents of seniors: I will be giving much information directly to your senior student in health class. Ask your senior weekly to see the great info about scholarships, the Western Undergraduate Exchange, individual colleges, etc. The college selection and scholarship process is time-consuming for seniors. Encourage them to get busy! Yours in Him, Lisa Ward. |
