Quote by Charles Swindoll “Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitudes toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I become that life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond to it.”
Dear Families,
What a blessed time of the year Easter is! Did you know that the devotion of the Easter service can continue after we come home? This is a wonderful opportunity to share the truths of the resurrection with children. Some use “resurrection eggs” which are a dozen plastic eggs filled with various symbols of the resurrection. As the child opens each egg, the Easter story is shared.
Many have Easter egg hunts. Perhaps you are aware that the egg represents the resurrection in many countries, because life is born out of the darkness of the “tomb”. It is amazing that Jesus loved us enough to die on the cross for our sins, but even more wonderful is that God brought Jesus to life again so we would know that He had really broken the power of sin and death. The hunt represents the two Marys looking for the tomb of Jesus and/or our search to find the Lord in our own lives. When we find Jesus, we rejoice because of the treasure within, something like the children rejoice over the goodies in the eggs.
Sometimes the egg hunt becomes a very greedy time for children. Some of the eager ones far outpace the more patient or shy, who end up with fewer eggs and appear the “losers”. A quota on the number of eggs each child can find reduces the competition and encourages the fun of the “search”. I like the children to know that all can find Christ; we just need to decide if we will treasure Him.
He is Risen! He is Risen indeed! Mrs. Stone |
