Parent/Teacher Conferences We anticipate great communications through tomorrow’s important conferences. No classes tomorrow.
NHCS in the Southern Oregon Brain Bowl Finals Our high school Brain Bowl ‘A’ team will compete against South Medford this Sunday. This contest will be telecast live on SOPTV, channel 8, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The winner of this match will then play a team from Ashland High School. Our team members are seniors Ben Bowdoin, John Cunningham, and Matt Hillier; sophomores are John Bayley and Jacob Bowdoin. Pray that our boys may be relaxed to think and respond quickly. This is the second year that a New Hope team has made it to the televised finals. The winning team of Sunday’s contest is invited to the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament held in Chicago, May 26-27. New Hope is the only small school to enter these contests and our students have done very well. In 2005, a New Hope team also made it to the finals!
Gym Progress Please give Sharon Garcia your name and phone number if you want to be included on a research committee regarding our desire to either remodel our present gym or in construction of a second gym.
New Teachers for the 2007-2008 School Year We recently announced one new teacher coming to New Hope. We are also in very serious communications with two other teacher applicants for whom we hope to give announcements soon. Giving Thanks for Alan Main’s Health Improvement We praise the Lord for His provisions for Alan and his family! We are also thankful to see that in the midst of extreme physical adversity, Alan has really been blessed with God’s enablement to look upward in trust and praise.
Excellent Turn-out and Showing for Our 5th - 8th Grade Track Last Thursday’s first meet showed the most promise of any NH middle school track team to date. They appear to be even stronger than the strong middle school teams of 6-7 years ago that went on to really excel at the state level as high school teams. Still needed are more helper for the Monday and Tuesday practices. Also, more 5th-8th grade students are still welcome to join the teams. All results for the middle school meets can now be seen on www.athletic.net along with the high school results from over 1,400 schools.
So far this track season, our high school track coach’s website now has 261,190 meet times or distances recorded for 64,259 athletes from 1,929 meets. Approximately 30 new schools are signing up each day as word spreads from coach to coach about this great site.
