At the team level, the Lady Warriors qualified to advance to the district tournament for the first time in school history, finishing fourth.Individual honors were also awarded to two New Hope standouts. Senior Amy Besler was selected for first team all-league. Senior Shyanne Barker was selected for second team all-league team. Athletic Director Phil Stephens commented, “This was truly an honor for them and for New Hope.”
Besler attributed the team’s success to, “…we all came together as a team and grew in all aspects of the game. [Early in the season] we struggled with our personal frustrations. We learned to just give it to God and let it go.” Barker agreed adding, “Our team has always struggled with not letting our minds get the better of us. This season we finally overcame that struggle and greatly improved because of it.” Barker went on to explain that, “In the beginning of the season, our team won silver at a large tournament, which really helped us come together and realize that we were good enough and we could do well.”
Barker summarized the season by saying, “Our team did great this season; we made it farther than a New Hope volleyball team ever has. My coach and the girls on the team mean so much to me. They are all amazing, and I loved the time we spent together, both on and off the court.”
Founded in 1961, New Hope Christian was the product of a joint effort among local churches and World Missions to Children.
