The 2011-2012 school year saw many great changes. One area in particular was the cafeteria. Not only did the year boast a new menu (which can always be downloaded on the New Hope website at http://www.newhopechristian.net/newsevents/lunches), but Mrs. Gina Yunker set out to make some long-term improvements to the New Hope kitchen that she oversees.

Combining the results of generous donations, fundraisers, and lunchroom earnings, New Hope was able to purchase 3 new commercial grade gas ovens, 3 freezers, and 2 refrigerators. No funds from the school budget were used to pay for these improvements.

In addition to being so grateful to the families of New Hope, Mrs. Yunker was quick to point out the generosity of another donor. “Our local Sears gave us a fantastic deal on all the new equipment.”

Not only is the new equipment a great improvement for everyday lunches and meals for special events, but it is also a welcome addition to the New Hope Culinary Arts class who recently prepared many of the desserts offered in the “Dessert Dash” at the school’s 3rd Annual “Reach for the Stars” Auction.

Founded in 1961, New Hope Christian School was the product of a joint effort among local churches and World Missions to Children. Last school year, the school celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to the community. New Hope offers classes from Junior Kindergarten (age 4) through grade 12 as well as an active sports program.

The theme at New Hope this year is “What’s NEW at New Hope”. The school now offers a modified block schedule and several new electives that cater to students and home schoolers. A tutoring/learning center is also offered to assist students on every level.
