“…Congratulations on being approved for accreditation with the Northwest Accreditation Commission an accredited division of AdvancEd…”
That was the opening line of the letter New Hope Christian School received in July 2012 from Tryna Luton, Oregon State Committee Chair of NWAC and NWAC’s Oregon State Director, Dr. Richard Darst. Accreditation was granted retroactive to September 2011.
Administrator Ernie Stone said, “We are obviously very pleased with this news. Being accredited affirms to our families and community that New Hope provides a quality Christian-based education that meets and/or exceeds NWAC standards for accreditation.”
The Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) an accreditation division of AdvancEd, is a regional accrediting body for primary and secondary schools in the Northwest.
The accreditation approval comes on the heels of a year of significant and successful changes for New Hope that included naming Ernie Stone as permanent administrator for New Hope and expanding their School Board members to include even more school families and community business leaders.
Always looking ahead, Stone explained, “Our accreditation was granted retroactive approval going back to September 2011. This means the New Hope 2012 graduating Seniors were the first to graduate from an accredited New Hope Christian School. It also means the accreditation is good for another two years while we work on school improvement and professional staff development plans that will prepare us for a full external team visit by June of 2014. The June 2014 visit will enable us to continue with our accreditation status.“
Founded in 1961, New Hope Christian School was the product of a joint effort among local churches and World Missions to Children. With over 50 years of service to the community, New Hope offers classes from Junior Kindergarten (age 3) through grade 12 as well as active sports, music, Academic Challenge, and drama programs. New Hope also offers a modified block schedule and several new electives that cater to students and home schoolers. A tutoring/learning center is staffed to assist students on every level.
Mr. Stone and New Hope Christian School invite calls to the school at (541) 476-4588 or a visit to the school at your convenience. More information is also available at the school’s website www.newhopechristian.net.
