Last Week of School Schedule for 7th-12th Grades:

It has been a long year and a lot of work getting ready for our accreditation site visit. Phil Meager, associate director of AdvancED and team leader, spent Monday evaluating our school. The rest of the team spent all day Tuesday going through our self study, meeting with students, parents, and staff, observing classes, reviewing documentation, etc.

As expected, they were very impressed with New Hope and are recommending us for full accreditation with NWAC/AdvancED. We should receive official word sometime in June. Our full accreditation will be good for 5 years, at which time we will go through another site visit.

I want to thank each of you who had a part in this. I also want to thank all you former staff, volunteers, and board members for your many years of service to New Hope, building a firm foundation and making our school what it is. There is no way that this accreditation is the result of the last two years of work…this is the culmination of decades of labor by everyone involved.

Ultimately…our accreditation is the result of the Lord’s faithfulness to His school. May we continue to honor Him as long as New Hope exists.

This is a great opportunity to get in some work partnership hours before the end of the school year. Students 14 and older, your time counts for your family. Come for a short time or all morning and join others in sprucing up the campus!

Megathon Obstacle Course Thanks:

A big THANK YOU to the New Hope PTF and all the parents who helped put the Megathon Obstacle Course together for our high school students! They really enjoyed this activity!!!

Pregnancy Care Center Diaper Drive Results:

Thank you for contributing to our diaper drive for the Pregnancy Care Center. We were able to purchase 1,482 newborn diapers to be donated. The junior kindergarten/kindergarten collected the most for elementary, and the Junior class donated the most for secondary.

High School Banquet, “One Night Only”, April 27:

High schoolers…it’s coming soon! “One Night Only” on Saturday, April 27th at 6:30pm. It will be held here at New Hope. Tickets are on sale now.

8th Grade Baked Goods Fundraiser:

The 8th grade class is selling baked goods as a fundraiser for this year’s 8th grade trip to YWAM Salem to do outreach programs and serve the city of Salem. Items for purchase include the famous Dennis family “Green Cake” (pistachio cake with chocolate chips) for $12 each, a dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies for $5, and a dozen homemade peanut butter cups for $5. There is a sign up sheet in the New Hope office. Orders placed by tomorrow will be delivered next week. You may also simply donate money to help the 8th graders fund their trip.

Junior High Art Class Contest Participation:

The junior high art class entered a Problem Gambling Calendar contest sponsored by the Josephine County Drug Free Communities. There were 85 entries this year which was twice the number from last year.

Congratulations to Katie McKinney and Natalie Besler. Their posters were submitted for the state calendar. They will both receive a $25 VISA gift card.

Congratulations to Julia Kashishian and Liam Westphall who had their posters selected for the Josephine County calendar.

Each student who entered will receive a $10 Papa Murphy’s card, and our art department will receive a $100 VISA gift card for supplies!
