Statement of Faith – Expanded

  1. THE BIBLE – We believe that the 66 Books of the Bible are the complete Word of God; inspired, infallible, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and the believers’ final authority for belief and practice.  We believe in the literal, historical, and grammatical method of interpretation, which includes creation in six 24-hour days and accepting Genesis 1-11 as true history.  (II Tim. 3:16-17, II Pet. 1:20-21, Psalm 19:7-11)
  2. THE TRINITY – We believe that there is one God, Creator of all things, Who is eternally co-existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  (Gen. 1:26, Jn. 1:1-3, II Cor.13:14)
  3. JESUS CHRIST – We believe Jesus Christ to be fully God and fully man, that He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless and miraculous life, died as our substitute on the cross, that His shed blood atones for our sin, that He rose bodily from the grave, that He ascended to heaven where He continues to intercede for us, and that He will return again personally in power and glory to establish His kingdom on earth.  (Rom. 3:25, 8:34, Heb. 4:15, 7:25, John 1:1-3, 10:30, Matt. 1:18, 28:6, Luke 21:27)
  4. THE HOLY SPIRIT – We believe that at the moment of salvation through faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit regenerates, baptizes, sanctifies, permanently indwells, and grants a gift or gifts to the believer.  While we don’t believe that any particular gift is required to prove the presence of the Holy Spirit, we do believe that the Holy Spirit teaches and empowers believers to deny fleshly and worldly desires, and to live Godly, obedient, service-filled lives in this present world.  (I Cor. 12:7, 13, Titus 3:5, II Cor. 5:15, Gal. 5:16-23)
  5. MAN – We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin all men became sinners by nature, which results in spiritual separation from God and physical death.  (Rom. 5:12)
  6. SALVATION – We believe that sinful man’s separation from God can only be remedied by being reconciled to God by grace alone, through faith alone, and in the finished work of Jesus Christ alone.  This is the “gospel” (good news), which Jesus commanded be preached “to all creation”.  There is absolutely no human effort or good work which can or must be added to the full and free salvation provided by Christ on the cross.  (Rom. 3:21-25, 4:5, Mark 16:15, Eph. 2:8-9)
  7. SATAN – We believe Satan is a personal being, created perfect, fell with a host of angels, is the father of all ungodliness, is a deceiver, the enemy of God and believers, and though powerful, is not all-powerful, and will one day be cast into an eternal punishment.  (Isa. 14:12-15, I Pet. 5:8; Matt. 4:10, 11, II Cor. 11:14, Eph. 2:2, Rev. 20:10)
  8. THE ETERNAL STATE – We believe in the eternal and conscious, bodily resurrection of all men; those who truly believe in Christ will experience “the resurrection of life,” and unbelievers the “resurrection of damnation”.  (II Cor. 5:1-10, John 5:29, I Cor. 15:50-58, Rev. 20:11-15)
