Mrs. Maureen McCarthy

Maureen McCarthy has been involved with New Hope Christian Schools for more than 20 years — first as a parent, then as a teacher’s helper, a teacher (6 years as 4th grade teacher), librarian assistant (cataloging our books and labeling them), cafeteria monitor; and just this past year, as reading tutor for our elementary students.  I have been tutoring privately for the past 5 years, specializing in Dyslexia, and have recently expanded my work to include writing and arithmetic — my new business name is 3 R’s Tutoring.

I graduated from SOU in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in English (writing major) and a minor in history.  I earned my teacher’s credentials in 1998.  I have also been certified with ACSI, and have achieved Certified Tutor status with the Barton Reading and Spelling System, which I use with my students. I spent 3 years in public schools before coming to New Hope to teach.

My favorite parts of being at New Hope are being able to pray with those who need it and being around the great staff we have.  My favorite Scripture verses are Romans 8:32-39, esp. 38-39:  “For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Jesus Christ, our Lord.”
