School of Tomorrow Learning Center

"Meeting the educational needs of TODAY
With the traditional values of YESTERDAY
And the technology of TOMORROW"

The School of Tomorrow program was developed almost 25 years ago to meet some specific educational needs. The founders felt that by creating a program that would meet an individual's learning needs they could meet the needs of many. The resulting material was self instructional, individually prescribed and progressed continuously.

The program was founded upon five basic laws of learning:

  1. Students must be at levels where they can perform.
  2. Reasonable goals must be set.
  3. Students must be controlled and motivated.
  4. Learning must be measurable.
  5. Learning must be rewarded.

Published Distinctives of the School of Tomorrow Program:

  1. Places child at exact academic ability by diagnostic testing
  2. Incorporates goal setting, character building, and wisdom principles
  3. Utilizes multimedia and computer technology
  4. Offers a superb education that is affordable
  5. Encourages parental involvement
  6. Stresses uniqueness of the individual
  7. Teaches critical thinking skills
  8. Produces academic excellence

SOT Trains in the Three Levels of the Learning Process:

  1. The Knowledge Dimension is introduced early. New concepts are presented five to seven times, focusing on the who, what, where, and when of information.
  2. The Understanding Dimension expands knowledge to the abstract or cognitive level, focusing on why and how.
  3. Wisdom is the third dimension and helps students walk with God, living as He did when He was in human form.

The purpose of SOT education is to teach children not only about life, but how to live. Wisdom is observable biblical principles and character in action.

SOT offers a Comprehensive Curriculum from Pre-School to High School:

The SOT Learning Center provides a number of Support Services for New Hope Christian Schools:

  1. With individualization SOT can provide Remediation when needed, helping students to make-up gaps in learning. Through Diagnostic Testing these gaps are determined when the student enters NHCS.
  2. When jr-hi or high school students desire Advanced Placement, SOT provides the avenue to make that possible. Numerous students pick-up credits at a faster rate. This allows some students to graduate early and proceed on to college.
  3. When a high school student's schedule needs conflict with the regular schedule, he is able to arrange classes in SOT that will fit the need.
  4. When traditional classes reach enrollment limits then additional students can be moved into SOT to be able to attend NHCS.
  5. SOT also provides a wide range of Elective classes for students who need the credit.
  6. SOT provides upper level Science and Math classes on Computer-Video-Interactive units. This allows the school to offer classes such as Chemistry to a few at a time and still maintain economic integrity.
  7. SOT provides a high ratio of staff to students. Often there will be four staff members for a class of twenty-five students. This means an almost immediate assistance when a student needs help.
