Home schooling at New Hope Christian Schools

Intro: To teach your children at home closely follows the mandate found in Deut. 6. It also presents the most challenging aspect of education facing the parent. When a parent decides to commit to educating at home, he/she assumes an awesome responsibility, for education is now a many faceted endeavor, which requires a multitude of skills. New Hope Christian Schools would like to assist parents who chose to homeschool by providing a workable program. The School of Tomorrow (SOT) Learning Center at New Hope is just that provision. SOT can help organize the many logistic problems a Homeschool parent faces. Below you will find a set of parameters for our Homeschool program.

  1. Registration and Testing

    1. Each potential student will need to obtain and complete the normal Registration/Application packet. The packet can be picked-up at the SOT Learning Center.
    2. Each potential student will need to take the Diagnostic Tests designed for the School of Tomorrow program. An appointment will need to be arranged with the SOT staff.
  2. Procedures, Testing, Record keeping

    1. After a student is accepted, a conference with SOT staff is required. At this conference the SOT procedures will be explained, to include:

      1. Setting and completing GOALS
      2. Scoring completed GOALS
      3. Correcting and Re-scoring GOALS
      4. Completing the PACE in a timely manner.
    2. When a PACE is completed the parent/student will contact NHCS SOT to arrange a time to be tested on that PACE.
    3. NHCS SOT will keep records of grades and student’s progress.
  3. Additional programs of NHCS available to Homeschoolers

    1. Each student may participate in our yearly Standardized Achievement Testing.
    2. Each student may participate in our extra-curricular activities, such as sports.
    3. Each student may arrange to make use of our Computer Lab and its many programs, to include Distance Education College Credit courses, Inter-net and our own typing/computer programs.
  4. Finances

    1. The initial Application & Diagnostic fee is $35.00 (non-refundable)
    2. The Registration fee is the same as for a full time student. (See the fee sheet included in the Application Packet)
    3. The Homeschool Tuition (which replaces the tuition shown on the fee sheet) will be:
$80.00 per month for the first student of a family.
$70.00 per month for the second student of a family.
$60.00 per month for the third student of a family.
